Why Did Tiger Woods Treat Hyundai Motor Chairman Chung Eui-sun?

Tiger Woods, the ‘golf emperor’ who had a major accident while riding the Genesis GV80, was known to have served a meal to Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun last month.

According to Korean Media, Tiger Woods had a meal with Chairman Chung Eui-sun at a famous Italian restaurant on the beach in Santa Monica, LA. Woods has served as the organizer of the ‘Genesis Invitational’, a PGA tournament held in Los Angeles at this time of year every year.

At this event, Tiger Woods is known to have secretly paid for the meal before Chairman Jung woke up. As Hyundai Motor plays the role of sponsor of the golf tournament, when the two met, Chairman Chung Eui-sun ceremonially paid the expenses. But this time, Woods served the meal. When Chairman Jung found out about this and asked, “Why did you do that?” Woods reportedly replied, “Thank you.”

In February of last year, Woods was in an accident while driving on a road near Los Angeles in the GV80, which was supported as a vehicle for the ‘Genesis Invitational’ golf tournament. At that time, the GV80 overturned several times and rolled into a median and a tree one after another. At the time, Woods suffered a leg injury.

The Los Angeles Police Department, who investigated the accident site, said, “The front and bumper of the vehicle were completely destroyed, but the interior was largely intact, acting as a kind of cushion. It could have been a fatal accident, but thanks to this cushion, Tiger survived,” he said.
