As the New Year begins, Benefits.gov is here to help in your search for government assistance. Check out the resources below to get started on the right track.
Prioritize Your Health & Well-being
Start the year off right by creating healthy habits. Visit your primary care physician, be active in your free time, and eat well-balanced meals. Get your family and friends involved in your healthy habits by working out as a family or cooking healthy recipes together. If you are looking for insurance coverage start by viewing information on health programs like Medicaid and Medicare.
Locate Food Assistance
Are you looking for help to buy healthy food for you or your family? Check out our Food and Nutrition list of benefits. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is the largest federal nutrition program, serving over 9 million families in the U.S. SNAP helps individuals and families purchase nutritious food. If you are eligible for SNAP, you automatically meet the income requirement for the Special Supplemental Assistance Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program.
Get Help with Housing & Bills
Do you need help with housing and energy bills this year? The Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) helps low-income families afford decent, safe, and clean housing. In addition, the Low Income Housing Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps households with heating and cooling energy costs, bill assistance, energy crises, and weatherization home repairs.
Research New Education & Employment Opportunities
The New Year is a great time to consider education and employment opportunities. Explore our Employment and Career Development page to start your journey. Job Corps is the nation’s largest training and education program helping youth ages 16 – 24 with employment.
