Campgrounds and RV parks are well-known for being seasonal social spots, with numerous families returning to the same site year after year. For many, it is a sense of camping camaraderie that brings them back to the same spot, time and time again. While some families are hoping for peace, quiet and campfires, other families are looking for activities that can only be done during a Pure Michigan summer. If you are one of those, a visit to Michigan RV & Campgrounds can assist you in discovering a campground that offers plenty of outdoor fun.

At River View Campground and Canoe Livery in Sterling, families can canoe, kayak or tube on the Rifle River. Get wet. Many MARVAC member campgrounds are located close to water—big and small. For example,Holiday Camping Resort in New Era, near Silver Lake Sand Dunes and Lake Michigan, offers a heated outdoor swimming pool in addition to being close to the Lake Michigan shoreline. On the other side of the state, Lake Huron Campground in Carsonville, not only has a heated pool, but a 20-acre lake complete with a private beach. The campground is also only 30 minutes from Port Huron. Outdoor Adventures in Bay City, offers a wading pool, lazy river and pools, as well as full hook-up and pull-through sites for RVs.

Get creative. If a planned event isn’t your family’s cup of tea, consider creating your own games. Glow in the dark ring toss, Tic Tac Toe on a tree stump or a nature-themed scavenger hunt are three easy, inexpensive fun games perfect for families of all ages. Get creative and construct a sandcastle or twig castle. Make a bug mansion out of a glass jar or plastic container, add some furnishings (twigs and leaves), food and water and keep it in the shade. Just don’t forget to release the bugs at the end of your trip!
