
Detroit, Michigan– On Friday, April 29, 2016, APACC hosted its 15th Annual Gala at MGM Grand Detroit. Over 750 business leaders including top corporate executives from large U.S. and Asian businesses; leaders from businesses owned by Asian Americans from China, Japan,
S. Korea, Taiwan, India among other countries; entrepreneurs; and political and government dignitaries joined to celebrate APACC’s success as well as the surrounding communities.
This year’s event was led by Event Co-Chairs Grace Lee, Chief Financial Officer of Logic Solutions and Rona Lum of Law Offices of Rona Lum. “We are thrilled to announce that we had the most attendees for this event in APACC history reaching almost 800 guests. We added multiple unique items to this year’s celebration including Taiko Drummers and ClickBid mobile bidding for our silent auction items,” said Van Nguyen, Executive Director. “We are grateful for the community’s support these last 15 years and look forward to many more as we grow throughout the region,” she added.
Susan Jin Davis founder, SVP Operations Compliance – Finance of Comcast Cable has over 20 years of experience in the communications industry. She is responsible for implementing product policies, operationalizing regulatory and legal requirements, reducing costs to the cable business, and managing business compliance in close coordination with Legal, Regulatory and Government Affairs. Her inspiring speech focused on the power of mentorship for the Asian youths and how pivotal it is to groom the up and coming leaders for society.
APACC ‘s prestigious 2016 Corporation of the Year was awarded to General Motors. Accepting the award on behalf of General Motors was Shilpan Amin, Executive Director, Global Purchasing Program Management. “As a corporation, our supplier diversity program is to foster growth and development of minority owned enterprises and APACC delivers new and qualified MBEs at various stages of entrepreneurship on a regular basis.”
APACC’s Advocate of the Year recipient was Sanjay Patel of Midwest Molding. In regards to his award, Mr. Patel stated, “We have been a member of APACC for the last 10 years and we see the value the organization provides for minority owned businesses such as ours.”
